William Dean Hutchinson, 82
William Dean Hutchinson, 82, of Plummer, Idaho, passed away peacefully in his sleep Feb. 17, 2025, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, finally succumbing to his long and painful battle with dementia.
Dean, as his friends knew him, was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Tacoma, Wash., to Richard Ashton and Charmeon Worley.
After graduating from Columbia High School in 1961, he went on to study psychology at Washington State University. Upon completing his baccalaureate, he served honorably in the Air Force from 1968 to 1972. After leaving the Air Force, he reconnected with Patricia, and they married in 1974. They went on to have two children, Richard Ashton and Hugh Leigh.
Dean was a man of commitment and principle, determined to provide for his family and give them the best life he could. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Richard, Hugh and Patricia and always tried his best to support them.
Dean was also a passionate birder and rock-hound. When he wasn't home, he could often be found birdwatching or gem-hunting. But his true commitment was to the Lord. He was a good Christian and, through his faith and practices, demonstrated what it meant to be a Man of God. He was never perfect, but he always did his best for his fellow man. Everyone who knew Dean knew he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.
Dean was predeceased by his father, Richard, mother Char and two sisters, Leslie and Janice. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his two sons, Richard and Hugh.
