Section of McEuen Park path will be closed Monday

| June 27, 2025 1:00 AM

The section of paved path at McEuen Park that abuts Tubbs Hill will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday as crews continue fuel mitigation work on the 165-acre hill on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The dog park next to the path will also be closed. Detour signs will direct people around the closure.

Crews started fuel mitigation efforts on the east side of Tubbs Hill earlier this month.

Dead branches and brush are being thinned and cleared, and some dead trees and snags are coming off the popular hiking hill.

The grant-funded work of about $240,000 was more than two years in the planning. It aims to reduce fire risks and improve forest health on Tubbs Hill.

The path is expected to reopen Tuesday.
