Coeur d'Alene 'ArtCurrents' submission deadline is Monday
The deadline for applications in the “ArtCurrents” program through the city of Coeur d'Alene Arts Commission is Monday.
Artists submit applications for placement of their sculptures around downtown Coeur d’Alene and Riverstone for one year, with an option to renew for a second year, a press release said.
"ArtCurrents is looking for creative artists who capture the spirit and atmosphere of the environment in which we live," a press release said. "We are interested in seeing high quality, thoughtful art pieces with an emphasis on excellent craftsmanship."
The displayed works should be created and displayed with the intention of selling within the year, with the city of Coeur d’Alene receiving a 25% commission from the sale. The Arts Commission has set a minimum cost for the piece at $7,000 with a maximum cost of $30,000 to make the art accessible to buyers.
The selected artists will be paid a stipend of $1,000 for the first year and another $1,000 stipend may be paid in the second year should the Arts Commission retain the piece.
Applications must be received at www.callforentry.org
