PARKING: Scanner malfunction results in ticket

| June 22, 2025 1:00 AM

Today we went to see my great-grandson and great-granddaughter ride the carousel. We arrived at the parking lot and saw a sign that said “hold your phone to (there were two places) and scan. We attempted to do just that but afterward, no screen appeared. We tried several times. We didn’t know what to do but we certainly didn’t try to park for free. We are residents of downtown and have never had a parking ticket for 21 years. We walked over to tell my granddaughter that we were having trouble and needed to find other parking, then we moved the truck.

Soon afterward, we received a notification of a $40 ticket. There was another relative who came with her child and had the same experience at the same day and time and she received a $40 ticket. I imagine Diamond Parking is racking up on grandparents, great grandparents and relatives who have had the same experience, a malfunction of a phone scan. Of course, the Diamond office downtown is closed. We are more than not happy with this situation and wanted to express it to Diamond Parking and to anyone who may have had this experience.
