Coeur d'Alene City Councilor Amy Evans said Thursday she is seeking reelection.

“As a mother, a professional, and a lifelong Idahoan, I care deeply about the future of Coeur d'Alene,” Evans said in press release. “I’m running for re-election to ensure we continue to grow in a way that supports families and businesses, strengthens our schools, and protects the character of our community.”

A native Idahoan, "Evans has built a reputation as a tireless leader with a deep commitment to thoughtful growth, education, and quality of life," the release said.

Her civic involvement spans decades, including six years on the city’s Planning Commission and leadership in preserving a historic downtown school.

Evans has served on the City Council for 12 years. She was last reelected in 2021 when she received 5,459 votes, 49%, to hold off challenger Roger Garlock with 5,178 votes.

She serves on the ignite cda board, the Coeur d'Alene Bike and Pedestrian Committee, the Coeur d'Alene Arts Commission, is chair of the Coeur d'Alene General Services Committee and is vice president of Idaho Youth Ranch.

“There are many reasons I have dedicated so much of my life to serving this incredible community," Evans said. "Coeur d'Alene is where my husband and I raised our children, and I will always work to keep it a place where they want to return. That will only happen if we continue to provide our city's residents with as many opportunities for success as possible, including a competitive job market, quality education options, and the health and recreational services necessary for the high quality of life that we all value so much.”

Her campaign priorities include creating strong and stable jobs and supporting local businesses; maintaining viable housing opportunities; expanding recreational and cultural opportunities and "preserving the unique charm and livability of Coeur d'Alene."
