POST FALLS — The time’s nearly here to debut the new clocktower at the roundabout at Fourth Avenue and Idaho Road.

Millworx and the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce are hosting a dedication ceremony Thursday celebrating the past of the Idaho Veneer Mill that stood on the site beginning in the early 1950s.

The ceremony is scheduled from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the steps in front of Kindred and Co., 851 E. Fourth Ave. As part of the event, there will be a walking tour of the Millworx neighborhood and an open house.

Artist Chris Anderson was approached to design and execute the vision for the tower along with Cooper Fabrication and the design reflects the logging history of the area.

Anderson resides in Colville, Wash., and mainly works on 3D metal sculptures featuring elk, moose, grizzly bears and other animals.

Old mill equipment and artifacts have been incorporated into the new roundabout feature.

The project cost about $115,000.

History of the location will be provided by Joe, John and Dan Malloy and Robert Jacobs will present on what the future of the Millworx project looks like.

Chamber President Christina Petit will speak about the impact of local tourism and there will be a dedication from Mayor Ron Jacobson along with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
