Teen hit in bicycle crash in Hayden

HAYDEN — A teen was injured in a crash involving a bike and a vehicle Monday afternoon at the intersection of Orchard Avenue and Ramsey Road in Hayden.
Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at 2:45 p.m. when a 13-year-old riding a bicycle was struck while crossing the intersection, according to a press release.
Deputies and emergency medical personnel determined that the teen was alert at the scene, but may have broken bones and a possible head injury.
The teen was transported to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, the release said.
An investigation continues.
No charges have been filed.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the community to watch out for children playing outside and encourage kids to wear helmets and practice safe riding habits whether they’re on a bike, scooter or skateboard.
