Imogene (White, Payne) Sverdsten
“Ima” passed away from this earth peacefully May 29, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 8, 1931, in Bend, Ore., to Adrian and Mae White. She attended Rose Lake School.
She married Norman Payne and had four beautiful children. She was a truly devoted Mother who took time to be present in their lives.
Ima worked for many years at Kootenai Medical Center.
After Norm’s passing, Ima married an old classmate, Donald Sverdsten. Ima and Don traveled extensively, camped and enjoyed their retirement.
Ima was preceded in death by her husbands, Norm Payne and Don Sverdsten. Her beloved sons James and Steven Payne. Her brothers Jess, Frank and Don White also preceded her passing.
Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Snyder (Tim) and Deborah McPeak (Duane, deceased). She leaves behind seven loving grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. Her sisters, Karen Peterson, Nadine Weddle and Mary Sperber (Steve), will also be remembering her with love. Ima had countless nieces and nephews who called her Auntie Ima.
Celebration of life will be held Friday, June 13, at 1 p.m., at the Bell Tower Funeral Home: 3398 E. Jenalan, Post Falls.
