National Night Out returns

Kootenai County residents are invited to join National Night Out on Aug. 5.

National Night Out is an annual campaign that aims to promote partnerships between police and the communities they serve. The event will involve more than 17,000 communities across the nation this year, including more than a dozen participating cities in Idaho.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office will be present from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in McIntire Family Park in Hayden. There will be free food and drinks, music and activities for kids, as well as K-9, dive, sonar and fire demonstrations.
