POST FALLS — A man has been arrested following a standoff with Post Falls Police on Friday.

According to a press release from the department, PFPD had responded to a residence located in the 900 block of Riverside Harbor Drive around 4:30 p.m. to serve a protection order.

Twenty-eight-year-old Benjamin Turpin, who was to be removed from the residence, was initially contacted just inside the door of the residence. When asked to come outside, Turpin had barricaded himself inside.

Patrol units then surrounded the house, and an arrest warrant was sought for the charge of resisting or obstructing a peace officer. Once that warrant was granted by a judge, Post Falls Police Special Response Team (SRT) responded to take over the incident.

The SRT made entry into the residence and located Turpin, who was then taken into custody on the warrant.

He has since been booked into the Kootenai County Jail.
