Innovia Foundation grant expands access to Kroc Center youth memberships
The Salvation Army Kroc Center received a $10,000 grant from Innovia Foundation to support reduced-price memberships for youth.
This funding ensures more young people can build friendships, stay active and thrive regardless of family income, a press release said.
“On any given afternoon, you’ll find youth playing basketball, rock climbing, acting in theater, joining our Mental Awareness Club and more,” said Lt. Jeff Boyd, Kroc Center executive director. “Thanks to Innovia’s support, these vital experiences remain accessible to all youth in our community.”
A core mission of the Kroc Center is to provide a safe, welcoming space for youth," the release said. "Rising living costs have increased the demand for affordable memberships, with nearly 41% of North Idaho households living paycheck to paycheck and many families below the federal poverty line."
Youth from low-income households often face social isolation and limited access to enrichment opportunities, according to the release.
In Idaho, one in five youth experiences a mental health disorder, yet many wait months for care. Schools and nonprofits now refer youth to The Kroc Center to help fill this gap, promoting mental health through exercise and community connection.
The grant will fund one-year Youth Reduced-Price Memberships at 50% off regular rates for eligible families. Parents or guardians must complete a verification form and provide proof of income at or below 225% of the 2025 Federal Poverty Line or show Health and Welfare eligibility.
