| July 20, 2025 9:30 AM

A child was hurt in a boating accident on Lake Coeur d'Alene on Saturday.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, a pontoon boat was towing a tuber in Mica Bay about 4 p.m. when the 8-year-old child was caught in the vessel's propeller.

"This caused deep lacerations to both legs, requiring a tourniquet to be placed above the wound by marine deputies," a press release said.

The child was transported to Kootenai Health for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A teenager was hurt in another boating accident about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

KCSO said a vessel was towing campers on the Spokane River near Ross Point Bible Camp when some tubers became dislodged from the tube.

"The operator of the vessel maneuvered towards the teenagers in the water striking a teenager with one of the two propellers on the 34-foot  vessel," the release said.

The female victim was transported to Kootenai Health via ground ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries to her leg and abdomen.
