Restrictions lifted for Moon Pass
WALLACE — Seventeen months after a rockslide wiped out a section of road over Moon Pass, the road is open without any restrictions.
Shoshone County Public Works Director Jessica Stutzke said Monday that slope stabilization work has been completed.
“They are still doing some work up there, but nothing that requires any closures,” Stutzke said.
The April 2024 slide resulted in thousands of cubic yards of debris, which was crushed and used to rebuild the road. The road reopened later that summer.
Earlier this year, Stutzke informed the county commissioners that additional work needed to be completed to stabilize the slope to prevent further erosion and reduce the potential for future slides.
The work was completed using county, state and federal funds.
Stutzke plans to inspect the work today.
