Volunteers in every corner of the community

A red, white and blue high five to Dave and Angie Hatch and Keith Sims for hosting an annual barbecue brisket and pulled pork potluck fireworks extravaganza at the Hatch Rathdrum Prairie home for 100 or more of their friends and family July 5. The Hatches’ big shop is transformed into a potluck paradise. There’s a feel of the way the Post Falls community gathered in simpler times.

This is the fifth year that Keith orchestrated the professional-level fireworks display so hundreds more can view the spectacular show from all corners of the prairie.
When this patriotic trio isn’t party planning, they are prolific and generous volunteers with a heart for our community and veterans and especially Post Falls American Legion Post 143.

God bless the USA!

I’m happy to report that Sherry Mundt, Mica rancher, has rows of corn that made it to knee high on the Fourth of July. Blue ribbon-winning Dalton Jill-of-all-trades, Caroline Sampert’s rows of corn were thigh high on the Fourth of July!

Locally-grown fresh corn is always my first stop at the farmer’s markets around this time of year.
