LEGION BASEBALL: Lums fall on walk-off in quarterfinals of Wood Bat Classic

COEUR d’ALENE — Kyle Johnson singled to score Asa Morton and Aven Adams to give the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen a 4-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning, but the Spokane Crew rallied to down the Lumbermen on a walk-off single by Simeon Mattingly for a 5-4 win in a Senior Division game in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Wood Bat Classic on Saturday at Thorco Field.

Coeur d’Alene finished the tournament 3-2.

Travis Usdrowski and Tanner Franklin had two hits each for Coeur d’Alene (19-17), which faces the Missoula Mavericks on Thursday at noon at Thorco Field.

Spokane Crew is 21-10-1.

COEUR d’ALENE — Griffin Tamagni had two-run singles in the third and seventh inning for the Mountaineers in a win over the Twins of Whitefish, Mont., to conclude play in the Junior Division of the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Wood Bat Classic at Lake City High.

Northern Lakes finished the tournament 4-1.

Jace Cooksey had a two-run single to give Northern Lakes a 6-3 lead in the sixth inning. Eric Wylie struck out 11 in the win.

Northern Lakes (21-4) hosts Coeur d’Alene in a Single-A North Idaho League game on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at John Shaffer Field at Timberlake High in Spirit Lake.
