Geddie Harris Fredy Jr. (Harry)
Geddie Harris Fredy Jr. (Harry) passed away June 17, 2025, at the age of 96.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Louise Fredy, of 72 years, his four children, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Geddie was born March 8, 1929, in Poplarville, Miss., and grew up in the South. Geddie served honorably in the Army for two years during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Alabama, "Roll Tide!" with a degree in engineering, specializing in aerospace and nuclear power. While attending the university, he followed his heart for music and played in the big dance bands. We all loved hearing the stories that he shared of those fun days. He also enjoyed singing with the choir with his church family at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Geddie lived by a strong work ethic, dedication and deep love for his family and friends. We all have so many fun memories of the campouts, along with all the pranks he played. He loved a good laugh. Geddie was always ready to lend a helping hand, from fixing the neighborhood kids' bikes to teaching the older kids how to repair their cars. He could fix just about anything. And he was even a registered Girl Scout Leader.
For all who knew Geddie, their lives have been touched with joy, laughter and many amazing memories. He was truly the best husband, dad and grandfather. Geddie will be missed dearly.
