Coeur d’Alene School District announces new leadership staff
The Coeur d’Alene School District announced new leadership in several key roles.
Tyler Morton — executive director of finance
Tyler Morton joined the Coeur d'Alene School District as executive director of finance on May 12, stepping into the role following Shannon Johnston’s move to the Central Valley School District in Washington.
A longtime resident of Coeur d’Alene, Tyler has built a career centered on financial responsibility, strategic planning and customer service. His extensive leadership experience includes financial management, budgeting and business operations.
“We are thrilled to have Tyler on our leadership team,” said Dr. Shon Hocker, superintendent. “His expertise will be invaluable as we continue to prioritize fiscal responsibility, transparency and collaboration internally and with the broader community.”
Tyler most recently served as president and CEO of Billing 4 DDS, Inc., where he led tax services, payroll operations and financial consulting for a large client base.
Additionally, as practice manager of Access Endodontic Specialists, he successfully implemented data-driven strategies to improve operational efficiency and revenue growth.
Tyler and his wife, a Coeur d’Alene High School alumna, have four children, the youngest is a junior at CHS. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Lewis-Clark State College.
Eileen Blough — principal, Skyway Elementary School
Eileen Blough will join the Skyway Elementary School team as principal beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Eileen steps into this leadership role following former Skyway principal Lesley Runyan’s retirement.
Eileen has served as principal of Winton Elementary since the fall of 2017 and brings a wealth of experience and a deep heart for students.
“Eileen is a strong and steady leader known for her unwavering commitment to student growth and academic achievement,” said Heather Somers, executive director of Elementary Education and Federal Programs. “Eileen’s leadership is grounded in building relationships, fostering collaboration, and helping every child thrive. We are thrilled to have her at Skyway’s helm.”
Eileen is looking forward to getting to know the Skyway community and continuing the great work already in place.
Kathleen Corbeill — principal, Winton Elementary School
Kathleen “Kat” Corbeill has been selected as the new principal of Winton Elementary for the 2025-26 school year. Kat will step into the role in August, following current principal Eileen Blough’s move to the principal position at Skyway Elementary. Kat has served as Winton’s assistant principal since 2021.
With 18 years in public education, Kat brings a strong background in instruction and leadership, along with a deep passion for student growth and success. She is known for her steady, student-centered approach and her commitment to creating a positive and supportive school environment.
“Kat believes in building strong relationships with families and working closely with staff to ensure every student has what they need to thrive,” said Somers. “We are confident that, with her leadership, Winton will continue to be a place where students and staff feel safe, challenged and inspired to do their best.”
Tony Prka — athletic director, Coeur d’Alene High School
Tony Prka is Coeur d’Alene High School’s new athletic director and assistant principal beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Tony assumes this role from Victoria Beecher, who was selected as CHS’s new principal following Mike Randles’ retirement.
Tony brings solid experience in education and coaching, along with a deep commitment to student success. Since 2021, he has served as vice principal at Elevate Academy North in Post Falls. Prior to that, Tony spent two decades in the Coeur d’Alene School District, working as a sixth grade teacher at Woodland Middle School and taught sixth and eighth grade at Canfield Middle School from 2001 to 2021. He also coached CHS football and multiple middle school sports, including track and field, wrestling and basketball.
Beecher believes Prka is an excellent fit for the position. “Tony is a proven leader,” said Beecher. “Our athletic programs are in good hands. He will continue our proud traditions and achieve excellence.”
Tony’s return to CHS is a homecoming of sorts. He’s well-acquainted with the CHS and Coeur d’Alene communities and brings an approach to athletics that is rooted in integrity and personal growth. His leadership will help continue proud Viking traditions while elevating athletic programs further.
Tony shared his excitement about the opportunity, saying, “I am excited to keep the tradition of excellence at CHS going. I have a passion for athletics and school activities. We’re building good humans. It’s a character-driven program at CHS.”
