Man arrested after stabbing
A man was arrested after stabbing and attacking people Thursday evening.
Coeur d’Alene police responded to a reported knife assault in the 1400 block of East Front Avenue about 5:15 p.m., where initial reports indicated there were multiple victims and a person bleeding.
When police arrived, they found a male suspect dragging an elderly woman in front of a residence, a press release said.
The suspect was compliant after officers issued commands and was subsequently taken into custody, according to the release. The suspect had multiple self-inflicted stab wounds.
The male suspect is a resident of an adult home for individuals with special needs. He reportedly became upset and for unknown reasons attacked a fellow resident and then used a kitchen knife to stab a staff member, the release said.
The suspect also attacked an elderly woman outside a neighboring residence, hitting her multiple times, police said.
Officers provided initial medical aid to the victims and Coeur d'Alene Fire Department personnel continued treatment.
The staff member, the elderly woman and the suspect were transported to Kootenai Health.
