Valerie Renae Queen, 47
Valerie Renae Queen was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and lived her life with a heart full of compassion and an unstoppable drive to help others, both two- and four-legged. Animals were her lifelong passion; she was always bringing home strays and rescuing dogs in need. But her kindness didn’t stop there — Val was always the first to lend a hand, ease a burden, or brighten someone’s day.
She graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and attended North Idaho College. She loved horseback riding, camping and game nights with her dad. She found joy in life’s simple moments and purpose in lifting up those around her. Whether helping with a task, offering encouragement, or finding small ways to make life better, Valerie was the kind of person who made the world a gentler and warmer place.
Valerie is survived by her husband, Ryan Quimby; her loving father, Doug Welbourn; her brother, Jeremy (Laura) Welbourn; and Ryan’s daughters — Kate, Sydney and Kelsey (Brandon) — whom she loved deeply. She also leaves behind a wide circle of cherished friends and loved ones who were blessed by her fierce loyalty and unwavering kindness.
Valerie fought a long and painful battle with grace and hope until the end. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Robbie, and we find comfort in believing they are now reunited.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at Real Life Ministries, 1701 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. Potluck to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Valerie’s name to Companions Animal Center (formerly Kootenai Humane Society), P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835—an organization close to her heart.
