Kellogg hosting Fourth of July Kickoff celebration
Kellogg’s Fourth of July kickoff celebration is Thursday.
Festivities begin at Kellogg City Park, where activities will include live music, vendors, a dunk tank and a horseshoe tournament.
Before the park festivities begin, the annual Fourth of July parade will march down Main Street and McKinley Avenue.
The celebration aligns with the Silver Valley Chamber’s Music in the Park summer concert series, which takes place every Thursday at City Park throughout the season. It starts with performances by TJ Hoops and the Sara Brown Band.
A free outdoor screening of "Holes" (rated PG), begins at 9:15 p.m.
City of Kellogg Community Events Planner Monica Miller said hosting the event Thursday instead of Friday was a strategic decision.
“The Silver Valley Chamber’s Music in the Park was already scheduled for Thursday and it made sense to coordinate with their free concert and market,” Miller said. “We anticipate quite a few people leaving town for the long weekend; this creates a void not only in attendance, but in volunteers and we wanted city staff to enjoy the day off with their families.”
The celebration continues Friday with the annual Firecracker 5K race in the morning, followed by a fireworks show at Silver Mountain that night.
