PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene, Lakeland, Post Falls advance to championship bracket at River City Duals

• WRESTLING

POST FALLS — Post Falls, Coeur d’Alene and Lakeland were among the local teams to go 3-0 on Friday, the first day of the River City Duals at The Arena. 

In Pod B, Post Falls beat Capital 72-9, Shadle Park 69-16 and Kennewick 73-9. 

In Pod E, Coeur d’Alene downed Pasco 69-11, Ephrata 60-18 and West Valley 78-11. 

In Pod F, Lakeland defeated Kellogg 38-36, Post Falls No. 3 72-18 and Ferris 69-18. 

In Pod D, Lake City beat Walla Walla 70-18 and Lewis and Clark 53-27, and lost to Thunder Ridge of Idaho Falls 44-34. 

Also in Pod F, Kellogg beat Ferris 49-30 and Post Falls No. 3 66-16. 

In Pod H, Timberlake tied Lewiston 41-41, and won the tiebreaker with eight match wins compared to seven for the Bengals. Timberlake lost to Coeur d’Alene No. 2 41-39 and fell to Kamiakin 45-34.

Wrestling resumes today with the championship matches scheduled for 4 p.m.

GRANGEVILLE —Senior Brodie Robinson hit six 3-pointers and scored 21 points as the visiting Wildcats downed the Bulldogs in Central Idaho League play. “Tonight he got it going,” Kellogg coach Mike Martin said. “He had a good week of practice. I was hoping to see this from him; as a senior, you’d like to see him break through.” 

After going something like 10 for 59 the last few games from deep, the Wildcats were 11 of 22 on Friday. 

“We’d had good looks the last few games,” Martin said. “Tonight it was much needed, it was contagious. We continue to battle on defensive side; it was nice to see it get going on both sides of the floor.” 

Porter Lewis added 13 points, Draeden Taylor 11 for Kellogg (4-4, 1-1 CIL), which plays at Orofino today. 

Tate Thacker scored 21 points, Gage Smith 14 for Grangeville (2-7, 0-3).

LIBERTY LAKE — Senior Ben Connelly scored 17 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter as the visiting Saints of Coeur d’Alene beat the Cristeros of Post Falls in the nonleague game at the HUB Sports Center. 

Freshman Grant Clemens added 21 points for Coeur du Christ (6-4), which plays at Wallace on Thursday. 

Dominic Demeyer scored 18 points, Dominic Wilhelm 14 for Immaculate Conception (3-5).
