LEWISTON — Senior Cason Miller scored all of his 17 points in the second half for Lake City, which erased a 38-28 halftime deficit to beat the Lewiston Bengals 72-65 in an Inland Empire League game on Thursday at Lewiston High.

“They made nine 3-pointers in the first half and came out swinging like we knew they were going to do,” Lake City coach James Anderson said. “We didn’t do a good job guarding the 3-point line in the first half.”

Lake City used a 13-0 run to start the third quarter to get back into the game as all five starters scored in double figures, with sophomore Jordan Carlson leading the way with 19 points, followed by senior Reese Strawn with 12 and juniors Josh Watson and Jackson Bowman scoring 11.

“It was good on our guys to come back and fight like that,” Anderson said. “When Cason gets going, we’re really good. Everyone in that first group did a really good job of keeping the ball moving. When we do that, we’re super-efficient.”

Lake City (15-4, 6-1 IEL) hosts Bonners Ferry on Monday.

Royce Fisher scored 25 points for Lewiston (16-3, 5-2), which hosts Post Falls next Friday.

Lake City notches win

over Sandpoint

SANDPOINT — Senior Sebastian Mosman pinned Gavin Walters in 3 minutes, 21 seconds, giving the Timberwolves a dual win over the Bulldogs on Wednesday at Sandpoint High.

Caden Ramey (132 pounds) and Duncan Morrow (144) had pins, Josh Macdonald (138) a technical fall and Nathan Booth a major decision at 175 for the Timberwolves.

“I thought our kids showed up and wrestled tough,” Lake City assistant coach Nathan DeLeon said. “Everyone stepped up and got us that win tonight.”

In the girls dual, Alexxus Johnson (120) and Justyce Dorn (145) had wins for Lake City.

“The girls wrestled hard,” DeLeon said. “Alexxus was in a tight match and wrestling tough when the Sandpoint girl (Emma Garman) twisted her knee trying to escape.”

Lake City faces Moscow tonight at Coeur d’Alene High.
