NIC's Schmidt named Scenic West Pitcher of the Week
North Idaho College sophomore Kristine Schmidt was named Scenic West Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for last week.
In 14 innings pitched last week, Schmidt, a Coeur d'Alene High grad, posted a 0.50 ERA with 10 strikeouts and an opponents' batting average of .176.
Gonzaga's Ejim named to Top 10 List for Katrina McClain Award
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced that Gonzaga's Yvonne Ejim is one of the Top 10 candidates for the 2025 Katrina McClain Award, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
The Katrina McClain Award, now in its eighth year, recognizes the top power forwards in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. It is named after the two-time All-American, 1987 National Player of the Year, and Class of 2012 Hall of Famer.
Others on the top 10 list are DeYona Gaston of Auburn, Darianna Littlepage-Buggs of Baylor, Makayla Timpson of Florida State, Kendall Bostic of Illinois, Addy Brown of Iowa State, Aneesah Morrow of LSU, Liatu King of Notre Dame, Sania Feagin of South Carolina and Kiki Iriafen of USC.
Gonzaga's Ike, Boise State's Degenhart named to 2025 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Midseason Watch List
Boise State forward Tyson Degenhart, the former Mt. Spokane High star, and Graham Ike of Gonzaga were named to the 2025 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Midseason Top 10 List, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Thursday.
Degenhart, a senior, has started all 23 games for Boise State, posting averages of 17.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 33.0 minutes of game action. He’s shooting 51.6 percent from the field and 80.3 percent at the free throw line.
Others on the watch list are Johni Broome of Auburn, Norchad Omier of Baylor, Danny Wolf of Michigan, Michael Rataj of Oregon State, JT Toppin of Texas Tech, Yaxel Lendeborg of UAB, Alex Karaban of UConn and Eric Dixon of Villanova.
