PREP BASKETBALL: Priest River catches on in second half for second seed

KELLOGG — The visiting Priest River Spartans battled back from a scoreless second quarter to outscore the Kellogg Wildcats 28-8 in the second half for a 34-25 win in Central Idaho League play on Wednesday at Andrews Gymnasium, clinching the second seed to the 3A District 1-2 tournament starting on Saturday.
Priest River (13-6, 5-3 CIL) will host third-seeded Kellogg (8-11, 4-4) in an opening round game on Saturday.
Desi Humphrey scored 14 points, Paityn Yount 11 for Priest River.
Aubree Groth had 11 points and seven rebounds, Peyton Storey nine rebounds and Ella Yrjana five rebounds for Kellogg.

POST FALLS — Julian Davis scored 30 points, and Emmitt Myles scored the game-winning putback with 1.9 seconds left as the visiting Miners edged the Jaguars in Scenic Idaho Conference play at The Courts at Real Life.
It was the second straight nailbiter between the two teams. Genesis Prep (8-11, 3-2 SIC) won 53-52 at Wallace (11-6, 2-3) on Jan. 24.
Gabe Meyer 17 of his 21 in the second half for Genesis Prep, which returns to action Feb. 13 at home vs. Lakeside.

PRIEST RIVER — Thomas Bateman scored 28 points as the visiting Badgers, ranked No. 1 in 4A, rolled past the 3A Spartans in a matchup of former Intermountain League rivals.
Asher Williams scored 23 of his game-high 29 points in the first half for Bonners Ferry (19-0), which has won 36 straight games. Brody Rice added 10 points.
Palmer Coleman scored 15 points for Priest River (12-4), which leads the Central Idaho League.
