CHAOS: ‘California Dreamin’
Despite the selfish and incompetent leadership in Sacramento, Calif., there is hope for the “Golden State!”
In 1967, as the Vietnam War raged and I was in “boot camp,” a favorite song was “California Dreamin”(1965).
Even with the lack of common sense of leadership in Los Angeles and San Francisco, as floods and mudslides flow down the hills, the people can be “rescued” by leaders who care about their citizens!
Though our family has lived in Idaho for 30 years, we were “Californians” before California became a state in 1850.
With smoky skies Vietnam Veteran Colonel Ron Maxson and wife Nancy of 68 years collected volcanic samples (welded ash, pumice, perlite, basalt/andesite and breccia) from the Central California Coast Ranges for our families’ Science Museum for Students. Students are fascinated by the macro and micro universes of crystals, minerals and colors and over 20 other areas of science!
Colonel Maxson had two helicopters shot up in Vietnam — one with 23 bullet holes and another with 27 holes!
Another Californian George Fleischmann sent our museum beautiful obsidian cobbles from his ranch purchased in 1909. His dad, Carl, made the first TV that our family saw (1950).
Our family also had a ranch in the Coast Ranges. We understood the Santa Ana Winds. Accordingly, we had fire breaks and cleared fire fuel from near our home and buildings. Our ranch survived two fires (1955 and 1964).
Isaiah 43:2-3. “… When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your GOD …”
