Three people make short list for council seat
Tonya Coppedge, Dan Sheckler and Todd Tondee have made the final cut to fill the upcoming vacancy of Coeur d’Alene Council Seat 3. Councilor Dan Gookin is vacating the spot when he assumes the mayor's duties Jan. 6 after winning in November's General Election.
Twenty-three people applied for the opening. The list was whittled down following a review process. Current Mayor Woody McEvers and City Council members Amy Evans, Christie Wood, Kiki Miller, Dan English and Kenny Gabriell will interview the finalists at a public meeting at 9 a.m. Jan. 8 in Conference Room 6 at City Hall.
The individual appointed will serve the remainder of the term for Council Seat 3, which ends Jan. 4, 2028. He or she can run in the next election to retain the seat.
