Nothing to see here; robbery report unfounded
A reported possible robbery in Hayden Wednesday turned out to be much ado about nothing.
According to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office press release, KCSO received a report of a possible robbery at a restaurant in the Prairie Shopping Center about 1:30 p.m.
Deputies responded and determined the report was unfounded, the release said.
"The investigation revealed that a restaurant patron believed a robbery may have been occurring based on statements heard inside the business," the release said. "The patron then observed a marked fire truck near the restaurant and informed firefighters of the possible incident. Fire personnel subsequently notified the Sheriff’s Office."
Further investigation determined that the statements perceived as consistent with a robbery had been taken out of context, the release said, adding that "No criminal activity occurred."
