'Day of Remembrance' to honor homeless
St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho, in partnership with Heritage Health, will host an observance of the National Homeless Persons’ Day of Remembrance on Sunday.
"This gathering is an opportunity for our community to pause, reflect, and honor the lives of individuals who have experienced homelessness particularly those we have lost," wrote Scott Ferguson, St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho executive director. "It is also a moment to stand together in solidarity and reaffirm our shared commitment to compassion, dignity, and hope."
Mayor Woody McEvers will be in attendance to read a mayoral proclamation declaring Dec. 21 as National Homeless Persons’ Day of Remembrance in Coeur d’Alene.
The ceremony begins at 4 p.m. at Father Bill's Kitchen, 1317 N. First St.
The public can join in a moment of reflection to honor the community's most vulnerable individuals.
