SHERIFF: Wolfinger did job well
Hayden hiring a consultant for public safety is a good idea. This is why.
First, I don’t think the citizens of Hayden require it. To me, it’s the people who drive through that make the problems. I sat on a public safety board for Hayden some years back with a group of very good people. Some I knew, some I didn’t. We made a recommendation to the city to ask the people to raise their own taxes for public safety. I studied the city’s needs carefully, their budget and most importantly what people wanted. I spoke with deputies who I knew and respected, primarily Deputy Hunt. She is high quality personnel.
Thinking back several years with a Wolfinger administration comparing to today’s administration, Wolfinger knew his job. The deputies’ coverage was so much better, without any extra money.
Hayden has always done what they could to help pay for things the sheriff needed. And everything worked out smoothly. I see a huge difference between administration styles. Wolfinger was good at his job. Norris, well, the town hall shows us the severity of his desired abuse level and the lack of self-control. So, to me, the sheriff’s department can no longer be a trusted entity of the city of Hayden.
Hayden is, or once was, the most all-American city in our county. They don’t need an abusive sheriff department.
