CITYLINK: Appalling to cut a humane program

| December 17, 2025 1:00 AM

Albert Schweitzer said, “The purpose of human life is to serve and to show compassion and the will to help others.” Robert Ingersoll said, “We rise by lifting others.” Only the self-serving, self-absorbed, and the incredibly privileged would take away a service that helps others who need it.

Citylink is one of the right things this county does, one of the kind and humane things available in a place where people working full-time still can’t afford rent, health care, and healthy food. I’m appalled at the sheer disregard for others who have less and depend on Citylink and the audacity to tell people to just pay for Uber, which on average is $2-$3 PER mile not counting a tip. Outraged is a mild word for what I feel about proposing to discontinue Citylink and make it the City’s financial responsibility.

Please restore my belief that our elected commissioners are here to help our community.
