15 seek City Council seat
Interest is strong in a seat coming open on the Coeur d'Alene City Council.
As of Friday, 15 people have submitted applications. They are: Logan Anderson, Sam Brown, Angela Chandler, Jeff Connaway, Tonya Coppedge, Richard Fries, David Johnson, Rob Knutson, Alan Rebeck, Bill Brooks, Brian Smith, John Austin, Jonathan H. Burns, Dan Sheckler, Raniel Diaz, Peter Allen and Todd Tondee.
Seat 3 is being vacated by City Councilor Dan Gookin, who will move into the mayor's office after being elected in the General Election in November.
The person appointed will serve the remainder of the council term until Jan. 4, 2028.
Qualifications include being at least 18 years of age, having a primary residence within the city of Coeur d’Alene and being registered to vote.
City Council members receive $15,000 a year plus benefits.
