COEUR d’ALENE — Gregory D. Chase could spend up to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing and battering a teen, according to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Chase pleaded guilty in September to sexual abuse of a child aged 16 or 17, sexual exploitation of children by possession of sexually exploitative material and domestic battery, all felonies.

First District Judge Barry McHugh sentenced Chase in late November to 25 years in prison with parole eligibility after 10 years.

Prosecutors said the charges stem from May, when police responded to a domestic dispute involving Chase and a 17-year-old girl who lived with him. During the investigation, police learned that Chase had “grabbed and hit” the teen during an altercation, injuring her.

After obtaining a search warrant for Chase’s phone, investigators found material that depicted Chase sexually abusing the teen, according to prosecutors.
