Their family includes their daughter, Dana (Jay and Nick), and daughter Dian, husband Danny (McKenna and Mollie), all in Oregon.
Dave and Brenda Oliveria
50th Anniversary
Dave and Brenda Oliveria celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 21, 2025, with their two children and their children’s spouses on the Oregon Coast.
The Oliverias married on a 105-degree day at the First Baptist Church of Corning, Calif., where they had met at a 1973 Valentine’s Day banquet.
Dave, who was then the sports editor of the Red Bluff, Calif., Daily News, was the guest speaker that evening. The former Brenda Orrmins was a member of the church.
The couple became friends, although they didn’t date for more than a year afterward.
They married June 21, 1975.
Dave’s journalism career led the couple to newspapers in six cities in four states, beginning in Red Bluff and Stockton, Calif., then to Kalispell, Mont., Lewiston, Idaho, Spokane, Wash., and Coeur d’Alene. Dave performed a variety of newspaper jobs — sports editor, bureau chief, news editor, managing editor, columnist, editorial writer and blogger.
Meanwhile, Brenda nurtured their two talented children — Dr. Seth Oliveria and Amy Oliveria Perry — and served with Dave in several Evangelical churches.
Seth was born in Kalispell. The Oliverias lost their second baby, Amanda Grace, in Lewiston. And Amy was born in Coeur d’Alene. In 2003, Seth married the former Stephanie Ashmore of Sandy, Ore. And, in 2012, Amy married Aubrey Perry of Oklahoma City.
In 2015, for their 40th anniversary, the Oliverias renewed their wedding vows in front of friends and family at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center in Post Falls.
As followers of Jesus Christ for their entire married life, the Oliverias have found Psalm 127:1 to be true: “Unless the Lord build a house, the builders labor in vain.”
