As summer comes to an end, area children will be returning to school for the new school year.
The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department will be staging at or near seven elementary schools within the city of Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday, starting 45 minutes prior to school start times.
The goal is to provide added awareness and alert motorists that children are returning to school. Coeur d'Alene Fire asks motorists to use caution on the roadways and in neighborhoods as children will be walking to and from schools each day.
Fire department emergency vehicles will have emergency lights on to warn drivers in the area.
Fire department personnel will also be assisting children with crossing busy streets.
Coeur d'Alene Fire will be at the following elementary schools: Bryan, Fernan, Ramsey, Skyway, Sorensen, Northwest Expedition Academy and Winton.
