PRESIDENT: Press owes apology

I hope that the monumental hypocrisy demonstrated by The Press in its Opinion page Aug. 24 is not lost on all readers except me. In it’s editorial, it chastises Letters/My Turn writers for using “personal attacks, insults, name calling, mean spiritedness, aspersions, and belittlements” when making their points, asking us instead to use “common courtesy” and “civility.”

So what does its political “cartoon” do on the same page? It falls in line with the Trump deranged, left leaning, screamers out there and depicts our current president as one of the most evil, murderous tyrants who has ever lived, Adolf Hitler (the Iron Cross on his chest is an obvious reference), intent on adding Washington, D.C., to his list of conquered nations. Name calling? Insulting? Mean spirited? Belittling? To say the least! I would also add dangerous and subversive, since such a depiction could incite ignorant people to violence. President Trump is trying to return our nations capital to a place in which citizens can come, view, appreciate, and be inspired by all of our history and monuments there, without being in fear for their safety, which is what it, very sadly, has become! I’m all in on that. The military being deployed there are not detaining Americans and hauling them off to be gassed, as the Nazis did. The Press owes the president an apology for such an ugly comparison.
