TRAFFIC: Horrendous in Coeur d'Alene

There is no snow!

Stopped at any red light, going straight or left or right turn. Look at any cars around you and ask this? Why are you stopped one and two car lengths behind the car in front of you? I understand during the winter with snow and ice, you might want to leave a little space between cars in case of sliding.

So why leave 15-35 feet while you’re stopped on dry roads between your car and the one in front of you? Traffic is horrendous in Coeur d’Alene and you only make it worse, thereby not allowing as many cars to proceed safely through the intersection. Have you noticed more cars going through a red light, because of your inconsideration?

When the light does turn, it’s OK to get up to the posted speed limit of 35 or 45. You do not need to go a 1/4 of a mile before you get to the posted speed limit. Pressing gently on the accelerator will not increase the amount of gas you use, that you will even notice. In fact, you will use more gas waiting at the next light, because you were not considerate at the last light you stopped at.

Traffic will not improve, it’s only you, who may help it go a little better.
