RIVER: Listen to concerns of residents

| August 20, 2025 1:00 AM

I’ve been following the group, Concerned Citizens regarding proposals that will affect the Spokane River with regard to boats and docks. My main concern is safety, but also how all the additional boat traffic would affect the cleanliness of the river itself — which could pose an issue for those that just want to swim, paddleboard and kayak in the river.

As a voting resident of Post Falls, I would appeal to you to pause all these applications, and that permits would not be issued until matters such as safety and water quality, etc. be thoroughly evaluated.

I’m not sure how many of these permits are being requested by out of state investors, but that is also a concern.

There is already overcrowding on our roadways because of out of control permits for housing. Do we want our rivers to also be burdened by overcrowding?  Once the permits are issued, it’s too late to turn back. So, I appeal to you in your positions of leadership and decision making, to take a pause and listen to the concerns of the residents.

Thank you for your consideration.
