Coeur d'Alene blood drive needs donors

| August 19, 2025 1:00 AM

The North Idaho Pride Alliance is hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29 at Community United Methodist Church, 1470 W. Hanley Ave., in Coeur d’Alene.

Sarah Lynch said the group was motivated to replenish blood reserves through Vitalant because of the historical restrictions people in the LGBTQIA+ community have faced trying to donate blood.

She called the blood drive "therapeutic and symbolic of unity" and said, "This blood drive is a chance to rewrite the narrative and show that LGBTQIA+ individuals are vital contributors to the well-being of all."

Donated blood through Vitalant stays within the region.

"By partnering with Vitalant, the North Idaho Pride Alliance is creating a space where LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies can contribute meaningfully to public health and community resilience," Lynch said.
