Kilmer to present Amalfi Coast trip Aug. 26

Capt. David Kilmer will give a presentation on sailing Italy’s Amalfi Coast on Aug. 26 at 7 pm at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
“It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen,” Kilmer said. “Rebecca and I were the lucky guests on this amazing sailing yacht, and I look forward to sharing exactly what that was like.”
Kilmer will combine images and the spoken word to create an immersive experience by reading about the trip from his newest book, The Way of the Sailor.
“When you sail that coastline, you are sailing through human history,” he said. “It’s like time travel. All these legends and stories amid this stunning natural beauty.”
The adventure he will recount begins in Naples and includes anchorages in Capri, Positano, Amalfi and Ischia.
“There’s a reason they call this the Divine Coast,” Kilmer said. “Come experience what it’s like to sail these legendary waters.”
The presentation is part of the Coeur d’Alene Public Library’s Novel Destination series. The event is open to the public and is free, with donations to the library suggested. Copies of The Way of the Sailor will be available.
