ROUNDABOUTS: Nix the botanical gardens

It seems as though our city planners have a love affair with roundabouts. I believe roundabouts are a good fit for moderate traffic flow. A lot of them are works of art, with bushes, tall grass and figurines (at the taxpayers’ expense). What I am concerned with is the fact that with all of the bushes and tall grass growing, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see oncoming traffic when entering the circle. This causes a person to almost have to come to a complete stop before entering the circle, which defeats the whole purpose of the roundabout keeping traffic flowing. Might as well put up a stop sign. It would be a lot cheaper to install, maintain and be safer. For an example of what I am talking about, drive East through the Seltice Way/Atlas Road roundabout. So, city planners, keep it simple and functional (less expensive too). I don’t need to drive through a botanical garden to get from point A to point B. Put in some drought resistant ground cover if you must. 

Maybe it’s just me.
