RACISM: Could have been a coincidence

Regarding Kathy Simmons letter published Aug. 8. Kathy’s assertion that she witnessed a racist act while driving on Government Way. Could have been, but why jump to racism for the poor fellow who got “exhaust spewed.” Could well be the driver was just a jerk and didn’t like bike riders of any persuasion. Or it was entirely unintentional, the truck was not in good working order.

I’m an old white guy and have been cut off, spewed, honked at or given the finger a few times over the years. Not often but once in awhile, just like most drivers out there. Should I naturally assume it’s because of old-ism.  

You can see “ism”s in just about anything if that’s what your looking for. I’m sure there are racists out there. They are few, but I won’t place that monstrous tag on anyone based on a single observation.
