Man gets prison for child enticement after sting

COEUR d’ALENE — A man who was caught in a sting operation after exchanging inappropriate messages with an undercover police officer posing as a teen girl received a prison sentence this week.

Adam D. Tyler, 35, pleaded guilty in May to enticing a child through the internet. 

First District Judge Barry McHugh sentenced Tyler to 10 years in prison with parole eligibility after four years. 

The charge stems from an incident that occurred during “Operation Spring Break,” an undercover operation conducted in April 2025 that involved the Coeur d’Alene Police Department, the Boise Police Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to court records. 

As part of the operation, investigators created a profile on a dating app that purportedly belonged to a 14-year-old girl. Tyler initiated contact with the fake profile, police said, and engaged in suggestive conversations with an undercover officer. 

Tyler made plans to meet the purported girl in Kootenai County and engage in sexual activities, according to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
