SANDPOINT — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday on U.S. 95.
According to the Idaho State Police, a 39-year-old man from Sandpoint in a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup and an 88-year-old Sandpoint woman in a 2010 Subaru Forester were both northbound about 3:30 p.m. near milepost 486.
The driver of the Subaru had entered the right-turn lane in preparation for making a right-hand turn onto Samuels Road when the vehicle was struck by the GMC, a press release said.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the GMC failed to maintain its lane of travel and struck the rear of the Subaru while it was in the turn lane, the release said.
Both drivers were transported to hospitals.
