Post Falls event with Nashville artist raised more than $200,000 for firefighters
POST FALLS — Idaho native and Nashville recording artist Jeremy McComb recently organized a benefit concert for his hometown in Post Falls called “A Community Rises" at Stateline Speedway.
The concert July 27 raised $213,138 with proceeds going to families of firefighters killed or wounded at Canfield Mountain on June 29.
Nearly 3,000 attendees turned out on a Sunday afternoon, transforming grief into support through the Red and Blue Foundation for families of the firefighters, the release said.
“The most humbling part was that everyone answered the call,” McComb said. “Everyone wanted to help. That’s what makes this community so incredible."
McComb grew up in Post Falls before launching his music career and is known for touring with Larry the Cable Guy and earning a recent International Single of the Year nomination alongside Morgan Wallen, Ella Langley, Post Malone and Riley Green.
“The Northwest is one of those places where, if you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us,” McComb said. “I felt called to put something together to help and this is the only way I know.”
McComb teamed up with business owners Bob Kreaman at Nashville North and Luke Cjar at Stateline Speedway and the community mobilized.
Donations for a silent auction poured in from businesses across the region and volunteers worked long days setting up the event.
Regional bands and comedian P.J. Walsh donated a performance and local weatherman Mark Peterson emceed the event.
The lineup featured McComb, the Kelly Hughes Band, Steve Starkey, Sammy Eubanks, The Copper Mountain Band, Chance Long, The Hankers, Payton Rae, Jordan Paddock, Tanner Laws and the Tamarack Ridge Band.
