Tax hike part of Coeur d'Alene budget plan
The Coeur d'Alene City Council is expected to set a public hearing for the city's proposed $152.6 million budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year when it meets at 6 tonight in the Coeur d'Alene Public Library Meeting Room.
The spending plan includes a 3% property tax increase that will generate $835,702 and taking 1% of forgone taxes for $291,148, according to a staff report.
The revenue includes $31.6 million in property tax revenue, an increase of $2.9 million over the previous year. The increase includes the levy for the newly approved 2025 fire bond payment estimated at $2,150,000 and new growth of $301,775.
Major general fund expenditures are $21.5 million for the police department; $15 million for the fire department; $7.3 million for streets and $3.2 million for parks.
The City Council is scheduled to hold a budget workshop at noon Aug. 11 at the Library Meeting Room.
