Leadman gives back
KELLOGG — Members of Kellogg Rotary Club recently presented checks to several organizations that volunteered at the annual Leadman Triathlon in April.
Through partnerships between the Rotary Club of Kellogg, Silver Mountain Resort and Dave Smith, $13,000 was distributed to the different groups.
Gus Colburn, Silver Mountain Resort’s spokesman, said putting on Leadman is challenging, a race that begins at the top of Silver Mountain and ends at the resort base, with skiing, biking and running intervals in between.
“It’s organized chaos,” Colburn said. “We have kids running around with skis and bikes, making sure they get to where they need to go. It’s a huge effort for everyone and a huge event for the community.”
Groups that received funds were Silver Valley Special Olympics, Kellogg Boys Basketball, Shoshone Pet Rescue, Silver Valley Cat Wranglers, Kellogg Jr. Tackle Football, Pinehurst Elementary School, Kellogg High School Class of 2027, and Shoshone County Fire District No. 2.
Funds are raised through registration fees and sponsorships. In 21 years, Leadman has raised over $200,000.
