Details have emerged in the Sunday morning arrest of former Coeur d’Alene School Board trustee Allie Anderton, who resigned from her elected position Wednesday after Post Falls prosecutors charged her with driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to court records, Post Falls police pulled Anderton over around 1 a.m. Sunday, near Beck Road and Expo Parkway, because a taillight on her vehicle was out.

Anderton allegedly exhibited a lack of coordination, had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. Though she performed field sobriety tests, court records indicate she refused to provide a breath sample.

The officer who conducted the traffic stop found a piece of burnt tinfoil in Anderton’s pocket, according to court records, as well as a dollar bill with “white powder residue.” Anderton allegedly told the officer that she had used the tinfoil and dollar bill to smoke cocaine late Saturday night.

Police say a search of Anderton’s vehicle yielded two more pieces of burnt tinfoil, which Anderton allegedly told police belonged to a friend in Spokane.

Police arrested Anderton, who soon posted bail.
