Barbara Joan Cunningham, 80

| September 28, 2024 1:00 AM

Barbara Cunningham (Auntie Barbie) passed away peacefully Sept. 11, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. Barbara was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Yakima, Wash., to Harlan Blackburn and Ethel Wells.

She spent her childhood in Yakima, Wash., Boise and Twin Falls, Idaho. After moving to Coeur d’Alene in the 1970’s, she began working as the office manager for Coeur d’Alene Tractor, where she remained for 30 years as a valued member of their office family. Barbara had an incredible talent for doing needlepoint and cross stitch and created beautiful pieces she shared with friends and family members. Her joy for animals was delightful to witness. She truly cared and loved them, and they, in turn, loved her.

Barbara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn Drowns (Linda), sisters, Carolyn Hague of Coeur d’Alene and Beth Musser of Boise, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara would be appreciated at Kootenai Humane Society (www.companionsanimalcenter.org) or Tunnels to Towers (2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306).

A memorial celebrating the life of Barbara will be held in the spring.

The family would like to thank the employees of Hospice House and Yates Funeral Home for their care and consideration.
