ISP investigating fatal crash near Spirit Lake
PRIEST LAKE — Idaho State Police is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on State Highway 57 late Wednesday night.
At 10:03 p.m. Wednesday night, the Idaho State Police and Bonner County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash which occurred near milepost 18 on SH 57 in Bonner County, according to a press release from ISP.
A 67-year-old male from Granville, Ohio, driving a white 1999 GMC Yukon was traveling southbound on SH 57, drove left of center, ran off the roadway over the northbound shoulder and crashed into a group of small trees.
The driver and sole occupant of the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene. Bonner County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the cause and manner of death.
Traffic on SH 57 was blocked in both directions for approximately 1 hour as emergency responders processed the crash scene before one lane of travel was opened to allow traffic to pass.
Next of kin have been notified. This incident remains under investigation by ISP.
