Chad A. Jensen, 46, of Coeur d'Alene was sentenced Tuesday to a 10-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after five years after being found guilty of felony domestic battery.

The charges stemmed from an incident June 10 that was witnessed by several members of the general public at a local gas station, according to a press release from the Kootenai County Prosecutor's Office.

"After observing Jensen aggressively drive his vehicle into the gas station parking lot, several customers witnessed Jensen punch his female passenger in the face several times before spraying her in the face with window cleaner," the release said.

One customer intervened by removing Jensen from the vehicle and detaining him until officers arrived, while another customer was able to help the female passenger out of the vehicle and into a bathroom to help wash the window cleaner out of her eyes, according to the release.

Felony domestic battery is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Jensen’s adult criminal history includes convictions for malicious injury to property, battery, unlawful entry, felony aggravated assault and felony eluding, the release said.

Jensen previously went to prison in 2008 following a probation violation and new criminal convictions.

At sentencing, Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Art Verharen recommended a 10-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after seven years. District Judge Barbara Duggan sentenced Jensen to a 10-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after five years.
